MSL (Material Science Lab) Intern Data Scientist (System development and Web Integration)

Material Science Laboratory provides service support analytical technique and scientific analysis for material, process, products on cleanliness, contamination, and failure analysis under Operation Quality and Analytic (OQ&A).

About the Role

Design and develop a web-based dashboard/interface for lab operation control and integrate the interface with Seagate’s LIMS system using APIs or middleware. Collaborate with lab engineers and data scientists to understand workflows and requirements, ensure secure, scalable, and user-friendly design, document the development process, provide training materials for end users, and report project status to supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop a web-based dashboard/interface for lab operation control
• Integrate the interface with Seagate’s LIMS system using APIs or middleware
• Collaborate with lab engineers and data scientists to understand workflows and requirements
• Ensure secure, scalable, and user-friendly design
• Document the development process and provide training materials for end users
• Communicate project status and progress to supervisor and summarize accomplishments, issues, and assignments as required

Qualifications

• Degree/master's in data science, statistics, computer, software, or electrical-related field
• Basic understanding of LIMS system and lab workflows (training will be provided)
• Proficiency in Python, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, and C++
• Knowledge of web development frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, or Vue.js)
• Familiar with RESTful APIs and data integration techniques
• Understanding of database systems (SQL / No SQL)
• Familiar with Linux, computer network, cloud, database, and virtual machine
• Awareness of data privacy and security in lab environments
• Excellent teamwork, leadership and coachability; fast learning and ability to prioritize multiple tasks
• Fluent in both spoken and written English; effective communication and presentation skills

Skills

• Good knowledge of IoT and web development or system integration
• Familiarity with KNIME, Image Processing, MATLAB, vision systems, data networking and coding
• Experience in data preparation, image processing, image classification, data center management, machine learning and AI projects
