About the Role

Under general supervision and applying knowledge gained with experience, begins functioning as a technical specialist. Continues to build on experience and gain more in-depth knowledge working on larger and more complex assignments and may expand into other disciplines and functional areas.

Responsibilities

• Learn and remain current on departmental design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and B&V policies and apply them to assigned tasks.
• Prepare increasingly complex engineering deliverables; perform research and develop recommendations for equipment and material selection; collect, assimilate and manage data for engineering work.
• Prepare engineering calculations following standard methods and principles and adhere to budget, schedule and quality requirements.
• Develop control system network architecture diagrams, I/O lists, instrument data sheets, control narratives, control logic diagrams, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) for control and instrumentation, and procurement specifications for I&C equipment.
• Coordinate with project leadership and internal/external team members; interact with other disciplines on design details.
• Assign tasks to develop entry level professionals and interns; mentor entry level staff and may assist with performance management.
• Support continuous improvement, change management efforts and business development or pursuit activities; communicate with clients to understand their needs.

Qualifications

• Preferred: I&C design experience for large-scale power plants and experience in instrumentation and process automation systems applications and selection.
• Preferred: Experience developing control system network architecture diagrams, I/O lists, instrument data sheets, control narratives, control logic diagrams, P&IDs and procurement specifications for I&C equipment.
• Excellent writing, presentation and verbal communication skills; ability to be both an individual contributor and work effectively in teams; ability to accept internal and external (client) feedback.
• Willingness to learn power industry processes and procedures and maintain some flexibility in work hours if required by the client or project.
• Minimum: Bachelor's degree in engineering from a recognized accredited program and minimum of 1 year related work experience.
