Commis Chef - Italian Restaurant

About the Role

Commis Chef for an Italian restaurant at JW Marriott, responsible for food preparation, cooking to standards, maintaining kitchen cleanliness and supporting the culinary team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, washing and peeling fruits and vegetables, weighing, measuring and mixing ingredients.
• Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality and presentation standards, and food preparation checklists; prepare cold foods.
• Operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves and fryers; test foods to determine doneness and monitor food quality during preparation.
• Set up and break down work station; serve food in proper portions onto proper receptacles.
• Wash and disinfect kitchen area, tables, tools, knives and equipment; check and ensure correct temperatures of appliances and food.
• Follow company safety and security policies and procedures; report maintenance needs, accidents, injuries and unsafe conditions; complete required safety training and certifications.
• Maintain clean and professional uniform and personal appearance; protect company assets and maintain confidentiality of proprietary information.
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues; support the team to reach common goals and respond appropriately to concerns of other employees.
• Perform physical tasks including standing, sitting or walking for extended periods; reaching, bending, twisting, pulling and stooping; move, lift, carry, push, pull and place objects up to 25 pounds; perform other duties as requested by supervisors.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent (preferred).
• Related work experience: At least 1 year of related work experience (preferred).
• Supervisory experience: None required.
• License or certification: None required.
