Mechanical Supervisor with (Commissioning Exp preferred)

Position Overview

Seeking an experienced Mechanical Supervisor to oversee mechanical systems installation, maintenance, and operations. Must possess strong technical knowledge, regulatory compliance expertise, and proven ability to manage field operations while ensuring quality and safety standards. Commissioning experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct and supervise mechanical crews, contractors, and technicians on-site for HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and mechanical systems
• Interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and engineering plans to ensure proper installation and compliance with design intent
• Conduct on-site inspections of mechanical work including systems testing, commissioning, and performance verification
• Ensure all work meets local building codes, mechanical codes, fire codes, and environmental regulations
• Interface with local authorities, building departments, and inspection agencies for permit approvals and regulatory inspections
• Prepare detailed progress reports, inspection reports, and status updates for project management and clients
• Implement and enforce safety protocols, conduct safety meetings, and ensure OSHA compliance on mechanical work areas
• Identify and resolve mechanical system issues, design conflicts, and installation challenges in real-time
• Coordinate and oversee mechanical subcontractors to ensure work quality and schedule adherence
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, warranties, and as-built conditions
• Participate in system startup, testing, and commissioning activities
• Communicate with building owners, facility managers, and end users regarding mechanical systems operation

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years mechanical supervision experience in commercial, industrial (Manufacturing/Clean Lab), or institutional projects; data center (DC) experience is a plus
• Strong understanding of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and mechanical systems design and installation; commissioning experience preferred
• Thorough knowledge of local mechanical codes, building codes, and inspection requirements
• Proven ability to prepare clear, detailed reports for various stakeholders and conduct field inspections and quality control activities
• Demonstrated ability to supervise teams and manage multiple mechanical contractors
• Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent technical education preferred; Associate Engineer License (minimum). Professional licenses (PE, contractor's license) are a bonus
• Experience with BIM/3D modeling coordination (preferred)
