Mechanical Supervisor with (Commissioning Exp preferred)

Position Overview

Seeking an experienced Mechanical Supervisor to oversee mechanical systems installation, maintenance and operations. Must possess strong technical knowledge, regulatory compliance expertise and proven ability to manage field operations while ensuring quality and safety standards. Industry focus: commercial, industrial (manufacturing/clean lab) or institutional projects. Commissioning experience is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct and supervise mechanical crews, contractors and technicians on-site for HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and other mechanical systems
• Interpret mechanical drawings, specifications and engineering plans to ensure proper installation and compliance with design intent
• Conduct on-site inspections, systems testing, commissioning and performance verification
• Ensure work meets local building, mechanical, fire and environmental codes and liaise with authorities for permit approvals and inspections
• Prepare detailed progress reports, inspection reports and status updates for project management and clients
• Implement and enforce safety protocols, conduct safety meetings and ensure OSHA/local safety compliance on mechanical worksites
• Identify and resolve mechanical system issues, design conflicts and installation challenges in real time
• Coordinate and oversee mechanical subcontractors to ensure work quality and schedule adherence
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, warranties and as-built conditions
• Participate in system startup, testing and commissioning activities and communicate with building owners, facility managers and end users

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years mechanical supervision experience in commercial, industrial or institutional projects (data centre experience is a plus)
• Strong technical understanding of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and mechanical systems design and installation; commissioning experience preferred
• Thorough knowledge of local mechanical and building codes and inspection requirements
• Proven ability to prepare clear, detailed reports and conduct field inspections and quality control activities
• Demonstrated leadership ability to supervise teams and manage multiple mechanical contractors
• Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent technical education preferred; Associate Engineer License (minimum); professional licenses (PE, contractor's license) are a bonus
• Experience with BIM/3D modeling coordination is desirable
