Principal (Forward Deployed AI Engineer)

Responsibilities

• Own the full analytics value chain end-to-end: frame business challenges, design algorithms, implement and deploy scalable AI solutions.
• Partner with clients across regions and industries to design, build, and deploy AI/GenAI solutions (including climate-related projects).
• Develop and deliver thought leadership, scientific publications, and conference presentations on behalf of BCG X.
• Shape BCG X strategy and work with partners and managing directors to drive growth and business development.
• Lead and manage teams of AI scientists, engineers, and designers; act as a client-facing engagement lead and manage client relationships.
• Apply software development practices and standards to produce robust, maintainable systems and optimize computational efficiency of algorithms and designs.
• Guide non-technical teams and consultants on software development best practices and act as interface between business and technology.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree (Master or higher) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience architecting and deploying AI/GenAI solutions, including Agentic AI systems, at enterprise scale.
• Experience with Large Language Models (LLMs) and platforms such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or open-source models.
• Proficient in Python and experienced in full-stack development using React, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and software development lifecycle practices.
• Familiarity with storage, manipulation, and management of relational, non-relational, and streaming data structures.
• Experience building and deploying production systems on major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is a plus.
• Strong record of professional accomplishment and leadership; ability to lead projects and teams and drive commercial impact.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to guide non-technical stakeholders in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.
