About the Role

The Electrical Engineer specializing in Protection & Control Systems will be responsible for the design, implementation, quality assurance, and commissioning of electrical protection and control systems across a data centre newbuild project, including Power Monitoring Systems (PMS), protection relays, SCADA/BMS interfaces, ELV systems, and cause-and-effect logic integration.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the electrical protection and control scope across all phases of the data centre construction project; develop and maintain trackers for system scope, protection settings, coordination studies, action items, and progress updates.
• Coordinate with design consultants, contractors, and vendors to ensure alignment with project requirements and grid/operator standards.
• Provide expert advice on protection schemes, control systems, and electrical system integration; review and validate relay coordination, selectivity studies, and control logic; support development and refinement of control philosophies and functional specifications.
• Oversee QA/QC for installation and configuration of protection relays, control panels, and monitoring systems; conduct inspections and testing checks to verify correct installation, wiring, and system functionality.
• Participate in commissioning activities including protection relay testing (secondary/primary injection), system energization, and performance testing; witness and validate critical protection schemes and coordinate defect rectification prior to handover.
• Review and approve protection settings files, coordination studies, test reports, and as-built documentation; maintain accurate records of protection philosophies, relay configurations, and system changes; prepare technical reports, issue logs, and progress updates for stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Proven experience (10–15 years) in protection and control engineering within data centre, power / oil & gas systems, or critical infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of protection relays, PMS/SCADA systems, ELV integration, cause-and-effect logic, protection coordination studies, relay settings, and commissioning procedures.
• Familiarity with relevant standards (IEC, IEEE) and electrical safety best practices.
• Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
