Basque Language Specialist - Freelance AI Trainer Project

We’re looking for Basque language specialists who live and breathe Basque grammar, syntax, morphology, spelling, phonology, and pragmatics. You’ll challenge advanced language models on topics like ergativity, verb conjugation, noun declension, sentence structure, dialectal variation, formal and informal speech, and the nuances of the Basque writing system—documenting every failure mode so we can harden model reasoning.

Responsibilities

• Converse with the model on language scenarios and evaluate model outputs.
• Verify factual accuracy and logical soundness of model responses.
• Capture reproducible error traces and document failure modes.
• Suggest improvements to prompt engineering and evaluation metrics.
• Challenge models on ergativity, verb conjugation, noun declension, sentence structure, dialectal variation, formal vs informal speech, and orthographic/phonological issues.

Qualifications

• Master’s or PhD in Basque language, linguistics, or a closely related field is ideal.
• Peer-reviewed publications, teaching experience, or hands-on linguistic analysis projects signal strong fit.
• Clear, metacognitive communication—“showing your work”—is essential.
• Experience with language model evaluation or prompt engineering is a plus.

• Deep knowledge of Basque grammar, morphology, syntax, spelling, phonology, and pragmatics.
• Ability to produce reproducible, well-documented error traces and critique model reasoning.

Benefits

• Pay range: $6 to $65 per hour; exact rate determined after evaluating experience, expertise, and geographic location. Final offers may vary from the listed range.
