MARCUS Area Program Manager, EHS Construction

About the Role

As a member of the Construction Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) team within Google Data Centers (GDC), you will support the EHS construction and Moves, Adds, Retrofits, Changes, Utilities, Security (MARCUS) program across a defined area. Responsible for the design, development and deployment of EHS programs and initiatives, you will engage in pre-qualification evaluations of potential vendors, oversee program implementation, communicate EHS expectations, and participate in strategic planning, risk mitigation and on-time delivery for construction and data center projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and ownership of the Compliance, Security and Risk Management (CSRM)-EHS program for area construction oversight and data collection.
• Ensure contractors deliver on program safety performance expectations and agreement requirements, providing timely solutions to issues.
• Monitor, advise and assist construction project teams to protect people and the environment and ensure compliance.
• Drive a continuous learning culture aligned with organizational strategies, goals and objectives.
• Liaise with Construction and Data Center Operations (DCOps) EHS teams to implement best practices, report progress, capture and analyze trends and data, and mitigate risks without compromising the operational capacity of live data centers.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience; 5 years of experience in program or project management; 5 years of experience in the construction/industrial/process industry.
• Preferred qualifications: Certified safety professional certificate or other applicable EHS certifications; 10 years of experience in EHS construction and subcontractor management; experience working in operational data centers with a focus on safety, efficiency and customer satisfaction; knowledge of implementation of safety programs; understanding of construction program management including basic construction agreements; excellent problem-solving, communication and facilitation skills; deadline-driven and detail-oriented.
