About the Role

Functions in an engineering technician capacity supporting piping design for power plant and related infrastructure projects. Under general direction, modify or create deliverables, apply basic engineering principles and established design practices to develop moderately complex design concepts, and provide technical guidance to others as needed. Onsite in Bangkok.

Responsibilities

• Prepare design drawings, including pipe routing drawings, P&ID’s and pipe support drawings.
• Perform piping design calculations, prepare detailed material quantities and estimates, and record data in project systems.
• Apply engineering principles and established design practices to develop moderately complex design concepts and deliverables.
• Conduct self-checks of drawings, sketches and related data to identify issues affecting the final product.
• Work increasingly independently while conferring with engineers and other designers for design interpretation and support changes to drawings.
• Ensure deliverables comply with applicable codes, standards and the Black & Veatch Quality Program; follow department document control and procedures.
• Coordinate with other design group personnel to exchange project information necessary for design development and may support field activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field.
• Minimum of 1 year related work experience in piping design and pipe routing for power plant projects or related fields.
• Minimum 1 year of 3D design experience in platforms such as SmartPlant 3D, AVEVA E3D or AutoCAD Plant3D; familiarity with Bentley OpenPlant Modeler, MicroStation, AutoCAD and Navisworks is an advantage.
• Experience with Microsoft Suite, Adobe/Bluebeam and document control systems.
• Good command of English (speaking and writing) and good communication skills for internal and external client interactions.
• Willingness to travel and work at construction sites as required, multi-task to meet tight timelines and work independently with minimal supervision.
• Basic understanding of engineering design principles, applicable design guides and standards related to the discipline, and basic knowledge of EPC infrastructure (power plant, utilities, renewable, oil & gas).
• Requires a bachelor’s degree from a recognized accredited program; candidates must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding checks (background check, drug screen, motor vehicle records search as applicable).

• Pipe routing and piping design for power plant or similar EPC projects.
• 3D CAD platforms (SmartPlant 3D, AVEVA E3D, AutoCAD Plant3D; Bentley/OpenPlant/MicroStation/Navisworks advantageous).
• Microsoft Office and document control tools.
