About the Role

The Regional Financial Controller is responsible for overseeing the finance and accounting functions of WaaS Asia’s regional entities in SE-Asia and India and supporting the financial management and reporting of project SPVs under development, construction and operation. The role is based in central Bangkok (alternative locations in Indonesia or Singapore can be considered) and reports to the CEO of WaaS Asia.

Responsibilities

• Design and hire an appropriate regional finance team; supervise and review finance and accounting staff work including cash reconciliations, account statement reconciliations, check runs, AR/AP, fixed assets, payroll, revenue and expense recording.
• Participate in building and scaling the regional finance function as the company grows.
• Maintain and develop accounting policies, procedures and internal controls in accordance with IFRS and group reporting requirements; oversee accounting operations and monthly closing activities of consolidated accounts.
• Liaise with the group Belgian finance team and coordinate group reporting requirements with the parent company.
• Establish financial controls and monitor financial performance of project SPVs during construction and operations; monitor project cash flows, budgets and drawdowns.
• Support lender reporting, covenant monitoring and coordinate project-level reporting with JV partners and external stakeholders.
• Manage tax reporting in cooperation with local tax consultants and manage the annual audit process with external auditors.
• Establish protocols to strengthen risk management and fraud prevention mechanisms.
• Issue timely financial statements; manage budgets and forecasts and analyze variances.
• Oversee general company administration and HR; occasionally perform duties outside usual scope such as HR and admin tasks.

Qualifications

• 7–12 years' experience as a Senior Accountant or Finance/Accounting Manager, with end-to-end accounting and financial reporting experience.
• Relevant university degree (Bachelor or Master) in Finance / Accounting.
• Experience in multinational, industrial and/or listed-company reporting environments; experience in infrastructure, EPC, utilities or renewable energy sectors is beneficial.
• Ability to develop and establish financial policies, procedures and reporting concepts; strong organizational and process management skills.
• Familiarity with debt finance structures, lender reporting and financial covenant monitoring; experience managing project SPV financials is advantageous.
• Proficient with AI tools and MS Office; experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, industrial cost controlling and operations development is beneficial.
• Ability and willingness to manage a team, travel as required, and work in a multicultural environment; growth mindset and willingness to learn.
