Responsibilities

• Install, configure, upgrade, and patch database software.
• Manage database objects (tables, views, indexes, stored procedures).
• Ensure high availability and disaster recovery (HA/DR) strategies.
• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot slow queries or bottlenecks.
• Optimize database storage and tuning queries for performance.
• Plan and implement backup and restore procedures and ensure data recovery solutions are in place and tested regularly.
• Implement and maintain database security, including access control and encryption; ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
• Provide support to developers and application teams regarding database architecture and troubleshoot issues related to connectivity, performance, and access.
• Maintain database-related documentation including architecture diagrams and procedures and generate regular reports on system health, performance, and usage.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Database Administrator or in a similar role.
• Strong knowledge of database systems such as SQL Server, AWS Aurora MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB Atlas.
• Experience with database backup and recovery, tuning, and optimization.
• Strong understanding of data security and compliance requirements.
• Familiarity with cloud databases (e.g., AWS RDS, Alibaba ApsaraDB) is a plus.
• Preferred: Certifications (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server Certified; AWS Certified Database - Specialty).
• Preferred: Experience with automation tools and scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python).
• Preferred: Knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD, or infrastructure as code is a plus.
