About the Role

The Network Engineer is a seasoned subject matter expert responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining and optimizing network infrastructure to ensure efficient and secure communication. This role collaborates with cross-functional teams to support networking needs and ensures network reliability, performance and security.

Responsibilities

• Design and plan network solutions, including LAN, WAN, data center and cloud networks.
• Develop network architectures that meet current and future requirements.
• Configure, deploy and manage network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers and wireless controllers.
• Implement and maintain network services and protocols.
• Implement and enforce network security measures, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, access controls and VPNs.
• Diagnose and resolve complex network issues using advanced troubleshooting techniques and monitoring tools.
• Analyze network performance data to identify and address bottlenecks and irregularities.
• Optimize network performance by analyzing traffic patterns, adjusting configurations and implementing QoS measures.
• Create and maintain comprehensive network documentation including diagrams, configurations, SOPs and incident reports.
• Collaborate with systems administrators, security teams, application developers and business stakeholders.
• Manage and participate in network-related projects such as upgrades, migrations and expansions; develop project plans and define objectives.
• Stay updated with emerging networking technologies and industry trends.
• Work with vendors to evaluate, procure and manage networking equipment, services and support contracts.
• Utilize network monitoring and analysis tools to proactively monitor network health and respond to incidents.
• Perform any other related tasks as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field.
• Network administration certification (Azure, Google, Amazon) preferred.
• Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CCNA, JNCIA are beneficial; advanced certifications such as CCIE, JNCIE or equivalent are preferred.
• Seasoned experience in network engineering or related roles, including LAN/WAN, wireless LAN design and network security.
• Seasoned experience with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, etc.).
• Proficiency with network monitoring and analysis tools, network administration and configuration tools.
• Strong documentation, communication, analytical problem-solving and project management skills.

Skills

• Experienced with networking concepts, protocols and architectures (BGP, OSPF, VLANs, VPNs, QoS).
• Hands-on experience configuring routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers and wireless controllers.
• Experience with cloud networking (AWS, Azure) and related administration.
• Use of network monitoring and analysis tools to identify and resolve issues.
• Maintaining network documentation, diagrams and SOPs; effective technical communication.
