Japanese Language Specialist - Freelance AI Trainer Project

About the Role

Are you a Japanese language expert eager to shape the future of AI? We are seeking Japanese language specialists to create high‑quality training data for large‑scale language models. You will challenge models on linguistic topics and document failures so we can improve model reasoning and evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Converse with models on language scenarios and challenge outputs across grammar, syntax, morphology, kanji, hiragana, katakana, phonology, pragmatics, and regional dialects
• Test specific topics such as verb conjugation, sentence structure, honorifics, formal vs informal speech, kanji readings, and nuances of Japanese writing systems
• Verify factual accuracy and logical soundness of model responses
• Capture reproducible error traces and document failure modes
• Suggest improvements to prompt engineering and evaluation metrics

Qualifications

• Deep knowledge of Japanese grammar, syntax, morphology, writing systems, and sociolinguistic nuances
• Real‑world experience preferred; degree is not required
• Peer‑reviewed publications, teaching experience, or hands‑on linguistic analysis projects are strong signals of fit
• Clear, metacognitive communication with ability to "show your work" when explaining judgments and edits

Benefits

• Pay range: $8 to $65 per hour; exact rate determined by experience, expertise, and geographic location
