Test Failure Analysis Engineer

About the Role

Test Failure Analysis Engineer based onsite at our Contract Manufacturer location in Ayutthaya, Thailand. This role reports to the Operations Manager, Thailand, and interfaces across Operations, Program Management, Quality, Engineering, Purchasing, Asset Management and Finance. Candidate must have the right to work permanently in Thailand without sponsorship, hold a passport and be able to travel internationally occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with US team to develop new test programs and test fixtures for new product introduction (NPI).
• Support Contract Manufacturer (CM) to prepare or upgrade test database installations (hardware & software) and implement/validate new testers for NPI builds.
• Provide technical and product expertise to regional test teams to ensure readiness for new products.
• Collect and summarize test-related issues for NPI builds and work with teams to improve quality and operational efficiency.
• Debug complex PCBA and manufacturing test failures, including ICT/FCT (PCBA and TLA), RF, UART/USB/Ethernet communications, and tester hardware/software issues.
• Read schematics, perform data analysis and root cause analysis, and use tools such as oscilloscopes, DMMs and spectrum analyzers to support debugging for NPI and mass production.
• Ensure ECO changes are actioned and implemented; drive CM continuous improvement for test yield.
• Provide technical support for product failure analysis for normal production and field returns.
• Coordinate internal and external teams to resolve tester hardware or software issues.
• Maintain the test SQL database and test software at the CM site and manage daily test operation activities to ensure production testing runs smoothly.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Systems, Electrical, Mechanical or Test Engineering.
• General technical background in electronics and mechanical manufacturing methods, including production and assembly processes, test systems, control software and electronics processes.
• Demonstrable experience in electronic manufacturing/test environments and hands-on experience building and commissioning functional test systems; experience with subcontract/contract manufacturing is a plus.
• Strong hands-on SMT experience and practical failure analysis experience for wireless electronics.
• Verify factory Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility (GR&R) studies are implemented.
• Working knowledge of Quality methods associated with Design of Experiments, gauge R&R, process capability and statistical process control.
• Working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and project management scheduling software; familiar with C/C++/C#, LabWindows and SQL Server scripts.
• Ability to develop assembly work instructions, analyze production processes and systems, provide technical/problem-solving guidance, and influence/lead others.
• Ability to interface and work with suppliers and purchasing to provide consistent product quality.
• Knowledge of mechanical CAD, RF, Wireless and GPS technology is a strong plus.
• Must be able to travel domestically and internationally.

Skills

• Hands-on debugging of PCBA and test systems (ICT/FCT, RF, serial & network interfaces)
• Use of test instruments (oscilloscope, DMM, spectrum analyzer) and schematic interpretation
• Maintain and support test SQL databases and test software at CM sites
• Implement and validate production testers and test fixtures for NPI
• Apply quality & statistical methods (GR&R, SPC, DOE) to improve test yield
• Coordinate cross-functional teams and support CM operations
