About the Role

Under general supervision, the Associate Engineering Technician (Electrical) supports engineering teams by performing technical tasks requiring an intermediate understanding of engineering principles. Utilizes digital tools and design software (e.g., CAD, BIM, 3D modeling) to create, modify, and maintain technical documentation, drawings, and project deliverables. May provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced technicians.

Responsibilities

• Prepare engineering deliverables such as drawings and 3D models under general supervision using AutoCAD, Bentley and other relevant software based on a variety of design input.
• Learn and apply fundamental engineering principles and established design practices to develop or modify less complex to moderately complex design concepts and deliverables.
• Apply knowledge of applicable standards, systems, document control requirements, departmental guidelines, and relevant codes in compliance with company policies and procedures.
• Ensure all deliverables comply with project-specific codes, standards, and technical requirements.
• Perform self-checks and apply the Black & Veatch Quality Program to assigned deliverables.
• Coordinate with engineers, designers and other design groups to interpret design concepts, support drawing revisions, and minimize interference or errors.
• Provide support for field activities and site work as required.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Drafting, Electrical Technology, Electrical Engineering, or related engineering design discipline preferred.
• Typically 2+ years related work experience; preferred 5+ years as an Electrical Design Technician or related role.
• Proficient in AutoCAD or other relevant design software; familiarity with Bentley, MicroStation and Navisworks is an advantage.
• Proficiency in Microsoft applications and Adobe/Bluebeam.
• Basic understanding of engineering design principles and applicable design guides and standards related to the electrical discipline.
• Basic knowledge of EPC infrastructure (power plant, substation, utilities, renewable, or oil & gas) is preferred.
• Able to communicate effectively in English, both speaking and writing.
• Willing and able to travel or work at construction sites as required and to handle multiple tasks to meet tight deadlines while working independently.
