About the Role
This role is the primary architect of loss elimination within the facility. Responsible for identifying, prioritizing, and eradicating chronic losses (product giveaway, yield loss, unplanned downtime) using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies. Act as a bridge between Finance and Operations to translate the plant's "Loss Tree" into actionable Kaizen projects, foster a culture of data-driven problem solving, and ensure improvements are standardized and sustainable across all shifts. Develop and implement maintenance programs aligned with food safety, safety, and environmental requirements.
Responsibilities
- Analyze plant performance data to identify "Top Losses" and align improvement projects with site financial goals.
- Serve as subject-matter expert in DMAIC and root cause analysis (5 Whys, Fishbone, Kaizen).
- Lead and facilitate high-impact Kaizen events and Six Sigma projects to reduce waste, downtime, and quality defects.
- Train and coach floor-level operators and staff in basic and advanced problem-solving tools to build organizational capability.
- Audit completed projects to ensure standard work is followed and improvements are sustained.
- Develop and maintain P&IDs and Value Stream Maps (VSM) to identify bottlenecks.
- Define centerlines (critical machine settings) to ensure consistent process performance across shifts.
- Lead scale-up of new products from pilot to full production, ensuring no loss in quality or speed.
- Monitor process capability and use statistical tools (SPC) to prevent defects.
- Identify and eliminate "invisible waste" such as excessive steam usage or unnecessary handling that damages products.
- Ensure all documentation and route maps meet SPBT standards and manage work orders to meet customer requirements.
- Follow job/task assignments from the Engineering Manager and participate in activities to achieve goals and quality programs related to Food Safety, Environment, Health & Safety, ISO, and plant requirements.
- Support HSE management: perform administration and training per legal and SPBT procedures, participate in HSE risk and opportunity evaluation, and coordinate with the Safety Officer on legal responsibilities.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, or related technical field.
- Experience: Minimum 7 years in a manufacturing environment with a focus on Lean or TPM; strong understanding of bottling line machine operation and maintenance.
- Certification: Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt preferred.
- Technical skills: Proficiency in Minitab, Excel (Advanced), and data visualization tools (Power BI / Tableau).
- Soft skills: Strong ability to influence without authority and to simplify complex data for diverse audiences.
