Landside Operations Team Leader

About the Role

This role manages orders from Maersk CS/Direct Customer (via email or TMS system) for all inland transportation modes (Ocean Export & Import, Domestic and e-commerce). It coordinates with other Maersk internal stakeholders/suppliers to ensure good quality truck service. The position also ensures suppliers and the Operations team perform with excellence as per agreed KPI.

Job Description

• Lead the team to manage customer orders from multi-channels.
• Overall responsibility for land transport operations within the Maersk group.
• Drive growth and business transformation/platform as per company direction.
• Perform daily review of transportation volume and plan to ensure resources are effectively deployed to satisfy customer demand.
• Manage Transport Planning function, consisting of Transport Strategic Planning and Resource Planning.
• Ensure the best utilization of subcontractor transport resources daily, impacting P&L for Transport Cost improvement, complying with local law, Transport Safety Standard, and Customer agreement, including Subcontractor agreement.
• Ensure good collaborative relationship with customer, vendors, and monitor vendor service, reporting trends to manager and relationship liaisons. Conduct supplier performance management.
• Manage the performance of transport vendors and ensure they follow customer SOP and safety procedures.
• Initiate the best value of Transport Planning function to internal & external customer by identifying key performance indicators.
• Act as customer-fronting leader to ensure good collaborative relationship with customer, not limited to vendor communication, as well as standard service level monitoring and control, reporting trends to manager and relationship liaisons. Conduct supplier performance management.
• Manage team with balanced workload, resolve issues arising within the team or with cross-functional colleagues.
• Conduct Cost Control and Analysis, leading to improvement in profitability.
• Conduct operation process to optimize productivity with IT Tools.
• Coach and train Intermodal staff to understand operational processes, roles & responsibilities. Monitor to ensure established operational processes are strictly followed.
• Act as a coach and mentor to subordinates on operational activities to resolve/prevent problems and facilitate skills development, including training & development plans for subordinates to meet business objectives.
• Develop, review, and improve working procedures to maintain high standards of operational efficiency, productivity, quality of service, reliability, safety, and a healthy work environment.
• Monitor billing support document status to ensure on-time submission.
• Review monthly KPI results and initiate action plans to improve results.
• Work closely with relevant stakeholders to deliver a great service experience to customers.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by management.
