Aviation Safety Manager

About the Role

The Aviation Safety Manager is responsible for overseeing and continuously improving MJETS's Safety Management System (SMS) and Flight Data Analysis Program (FDAP), coordinating safety investigations, ensuring compliance with aviation safety regulations, and leading safety risk management activities across flight operations, maintenance, and aircraft management. This role ensures compliance with TCAR Part OPS, Part M, Part CAMO and Part 145 as well as relevant ICAO and CAAT regulations.

Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee implementation, performance, and continuous improvement of the SMS across flight operations and maintenance.
• Supervise safety databases and the Flight Data Analysis Program (FDAP) to support proactive risk management in operations and maintenance.
• Analyze flight data to identify trends and anomalies; prepare and generate flight data analysis reports to support hazard identification and corrective actions.
• Conduct safety analyses and assist in safety investigations to determine root causes and preventive measures; manage occurrence/defect reporting and follow-up.
• Maintain, secure, and manage trend and event databases of flight safety related information.
• Lead and participate in Safety Action Group meetings and support Safety Review Board and Management Evaluation Review meetings.
• Liaise with CAAT and other aviation authorities on safety compliance, audits, inspections, and documentation related to TCAR OPS, TCAR 8 Part 145, aircraft state registration, and aircraft management.
• Oversee safety management aspects of Aircraft Management to ensure compliance with the requirements of the aircrafts state of registration and relevant state authority regulations.
• Develop, track, and report Safety Performance Indicators (SPIs) and Safety Performance Targets (SPTs) and recommend improvements when objectives are not met.
• Ensure the Emergency Response Plan (ERP) is established, exercised, implemented, and maintained.
• Coordinate and support external safety audits and inspections, including documentation and follow-up actions.
• Develop safety training programs and awareness campaigns for staff on safety procedures, regulatory compliance, and aviation safety principles.
• Foster a strong safety culture and collaborate with Maintenance, Quality, Flight Operations, Ground Operations, Training, and Aircraft Management teams to resolve safety issues.
• Monitor industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices including ICAO Annex 19, FAA, EASA, and other applicable frameworks.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of Quality and Safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Aviation, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in aviation safety management or related roles in airline/aviation operations, maintenance, and aircraft management.
• Certificates in Internal Auditor, Safety Management Systems (SMS), or related qualifications preferred.
• Comprehensive knowledge of TCARs Part OPS, Part M, Part CAMO and Part 145, CAAT regulations, and aircraft state registration requirements.
• Experience managing occurrence/defect reporting, safety investigations, and risk assessments covering flight operations, maintenance, and aircraft management.
• Proven ability to lead safety audits, analyze safety data, and promote a safety culture; experience with GE C-FOQA system will be given special consideration.
• Proficient in MS Office and safety/compliance management software; proficient in written and spoken English.
• Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills with exceptional attention to detail.
