About the Role

We are hiring a Technical Lead / Engineering Manager to lead a small team and take ownership of one of Coda's core systems. The role balances hands-on engineering, architecture, product partnership, and people management within a high-volume payments and e-commerce environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of 3–6 software engineers.
• Take ownership of a core system, define and drive an aggressive technology roadmap.
• Design and develop highly scalable, reliable, secure, and fault-tolerant systems end-to-end using modern technologies.
• Work closely with Product to ensure goals are clearly defined at OKR and day-to-day levels.
• Own execution of product and technical goals.
• Coach team members using continuous improvement techniques to build a high-performance team.
• Collaborate with recruiting to attract strong engineering talent.

Qualifications

• Passion for building great products and software.
• Exemplary written and oral communication skills.
• Experience in an agile environment with the ability to analyze and optimize team productivity.
• 3+ years as a successful tech lead working on hard problems.
• Strong experience with data technologies (RDBMS, NoSQL, message queues, etc.).
• Ability to query, analyze, and work with data to drive decision-making.
• Expert architectural skills and the ability to write and review code as necessary.
• Able to quickly learn or evaluate new technologies.

Skills

• AWS cloud, infrastructure-as-code and microservices (Quarkus mentioned in stack).
• JSON and gRPC for service integration, multiple data storage integrations, message queues, and observability (OpenTelemetry).

Additional Information

• Bonus: experience with extremely high-scale distributed systems, deep knowledge of security or cryptography, and experience building systems in AWS.
