Embedded Software Engineering Manager(Linux, C )

About the Role

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

• Lead the design, development and implementation of technical solutions for complex projects involving multiple domains; participate in project planning and scheduling.
• Act as a global SME with comprehensive knowledge and provide technical leadership and direction to a global team of engineers.
• Take responsibility for non-technical elements of engineering projects (people, financials, etc.).
• Review and interpret customer specifications and may act as primary customer contact.
• Analyze trade-offs in complex systems, recommend solutions, and develop deployment strategies and plans.
• Lead deployment of strategic complex programs and coordinate site-wide deployment efforts.
• Manage relationships with key vendors/partners as needed.
• Analyze, design and develop tests and test-automation suites.
• Design and develop a processing platform using various configuration management technologies.
• Apply test software development methodology (may be done in an agile environment).
• Provide ongoing maintenance, support and enhancements for existing systems and platforms.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with customers, users, project managers and other engineers, including conducting peer-reviews to achieve elegant solutions.
• Provide recommendations for continuous improvement and work alongside other engineers to elevate technology and apply best practices.
• Keep up to date with relevant industry knowledge and regulations.

Qualifications

• Project Management: ability to manage/lead complex, multi-line engineering projects that may involve other functions; create project/change management plans and deliver projects within assigned time and budget; recognize barriers and develop mitigation plans.
• Leadership: demonstrate people & team leadership behaviors per Celestica Leadership Imperatives; coaching/mentoring capabilities.
• Financial Acumen / Business Planning: ability to create financial plans for projects, align internally and externally, perform profitability calculations, risk and sensitivity analysis, and mitigate profitability risks; knowledgeable about relevant financial reporting, accounting and tax requirements.
• Additional competencies that may be required: communication/negotiation/presentation; creative problem solving; customer interaction/stakeholder management; quality & lean; working effectively with others; D/PFMEA; 8D/corrective action; equipment safety; Design of Experiments (DOE).

Additional Information

Duties are performed in a normal office environment and may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data. Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator) are frequently required. Occasional travel may be required.
