The Role

Bring your specialist knowledge and experience to a company managing 50% of the world’s MIPS and play a critical role in our modernization mission. You’ll be in good company among our global community of experts leading the future of mainframe modernization. Experts who share knowledge openly and collaborate freely.

In this role, you’ll design, build and maintain the high-volume business logic that runs on the mainframe. At the same time you’ll play a key role in refactoring legacy code to enable modern cloud and mobile applications to seamlessly interact with the mainframe’s core data.

What you will do

• Maintain Performance: Prevent decay and find efficiencies: Monitor the architecture and identify opportunities to optimize code to maintain and enhance mainframe performance.
• Debug and Test: Find and fix: Debug, troubleshoot, and analyze complex system interactions to keep mission-critical applications running.
• Develop for the Future: Bridge the gap: As an instrumental player in modernization, you’ll extract business logic from legacy systems for migration or integration with cloud-based services.

Required Technical and Professional Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer or similar role, preferably in a complex and security-focused environment.
• Strong knowledge of DevOps principles and best practices.
• Experience with managing DevSecOps Toolchains and associated tools, including monitoring, incident resolution, patching, and upgrades.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, version control systems (e.g., Git), and configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible).
• Experience with log management and analysis tools, such as ELK stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana).
• Knowledge of security scanning and vulnerability management tools.
• Understanding of containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and related practices.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and infrastructure-as-code concepts.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Certifications in relevant areas (e.g., AWS, Azure, DevOps) are a plus.

Preferred skills and experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Certification in one or more of the hyperscalers (Azure, AWS, and Google GCP) - otherwise, you can obtain certifications with Kyndryl.
• Experience with DevOps tools and modern engineering practices.
