Software Development Manager (Fullstack/Backend) - Permanent

About the Role

Software Development Manager will lead 3-5 engineering squads (20-30 people) responsible for planning, designing, developing, and providing software package, make it ready to be deployed on production server. Software Development Manager must ensure that the software is built with high quality standard and meet the committed delivery timeline. The role requires ability to prioritize well, communicate clearly, have a consistent track record of delivery, excellent software engineering skill, and must be able to work across multiple facets of the project and juggle multiple responsibilities at the same time.

Responsibilities

• Represents software development teams to the whole group including businesspeople, product team, project management team; act as the point of contact for the team.
• Consult team members and enforce team direction aligned with company policy.
• Work closely with Product Owner, Business Analyst, System Analyst to understand requirements and identify what needs to be developed and improved; participate in planning sessions to provide accurate estimations.
• Manage large and complex project teams to develop, execute and complete assignments; organize team roles and evaluate employee performance.
• Keep up with industry best practices, new knowledge and techniques and apply them with agreement from the team.

Qualifications

• BSc/BEng in computer science, computer engineering, or a relevant field.
• 15+ years of experience in software development using Java, JavaScript, TypeScript or other application technology stack.
• 5+ years of experience managing software development team as a technical lead.
• Extensive experience using one or more development frameworks/libraries (Spring Boot, NodeJS).
• Experience in using or building CI/CD workflow for web application projects and using Git as source code version management tool.
• Experience working with SQL/NoSQL databases (e.g., MySQL, MongoDB); can write effective SQL statements.
• Experience in mobile and web development is a plus (iOS, Android, HTML5, CSS).
• Experience in Cloud Services (e.g., Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure) is a plus.
• Experience in web services and related technologies (RESTful, SOAP, XML, JSON).
• Experience using Message Queue / Kafka to solve integration problems; good understanding of Enterprise Integration Pattern and Microservice architecture.
• Knowledge of unit test frameworks/libraries (JUnit, Mockito, Jest, XCTest) and automation tools (Espresso, XCUITest, Robot Framework, Cypress, Karate, Flutter Driver, Detox).
• Good English communication skills; strong presentation and interpersonal skills; confidence to challenge the status quo and provide informed opinions.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure, self-motivated, goal oriented, and able to motivate and cultivate team.
