About the Role

Provide language interpretation from one language to another for individuals with language barriers to understand and communicate with each other. Handling telephone or video calls on demand and rendering meaning of conversations in consecutive mode of interpretation between speakers of English and other required languages (Cantonese).

Responsibilities

• Provide language interpretation from one language to another for individuals with language barriers to understand and communicate to each other
• Handle telephone or video calls on demand and render meaning of conversations in the consecutive mode of interpretation between speakers of English
• Process information quickly and concisely, recognize sensitive cultural differences, and remain professional and courteous
• Use appropriate industry terminology and understand common industry procedures and practices; calls may involve simple or complex, non-technical or technical subjects in Healthcare, Government, Insurance, Finance, Utilities, Travel and Hospitality, 911 emergency services, Law Enforcement, Courts, and General Business
• Explain certain cultural concepts, with the permission or at request of the client, to avoid miscommunication

Qualifications

• Excellent listening, retention and note taking skills to maintain a high level of accuracy
• Ability to concentrate, stay detached from the conversation, and always remain neutral and objective
• Ability to quickly establish personal credibility
• Ability to follow client's instructions closely
• Ability to explain certain cultural concepts to avoid miscommunication, with the permission or at request of the client
• B2 CEFR English Level; bilingual with other required languages (Cantonese)
• Able to work from home on a permanent basis
