Senior Engineer, Mechanical Design Engineering

Responsibilities

• Provide in-depth analysis for critical failures related to servo-mechanical issues, including hardware/software troubleshooting and setup of existing or new capabilities.
• Facilitate engineering evaluations on design changes, component revisions, process verifications, or material/component deviations to assess impacts on yield, scrap, cycle time, OQA and reliability.
• Develop, maintain, and update working knowledge of component technology, manufacturing methods, and parts application; provide technical information to colleagues.
• Participate in product and technology transfers between Design and Manufacturing; work with Design Engineering (San Jose and Fujisawa) on component design enhancements, engineering changes, evaluations and coordinate implementation in factories.
• Provide team leadership in task forces and action teams to drive resolution of critical issues and failures.
• Perform root-cause analysis and derive corrective actions (CA) and design changes for future product improvements based on lessons learned.
• Ensure commonality or standardization among processes or systems across related manufacturing sites.

Qualifications

• Early Career: fresh graduates and candidates with 0–2 years of experience are encouraged to apply.
• Currently pursuing or recently completed a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent.
• Work experience preferably in the HDD or consumer electronics industries.
• Knowledge of MS Office, SPC, big data platforms, Minitab, JMP, MATLAB, SolidWorks, GD&T, DOE, mechanical drawing interpretation, and electro-mechanical troubleshooting.
• Capable of performing mechanical stack-up tolerance analysis.
• High quality of work with understanding of accurate data collection for failure analysis.
• Ability to take personal responsibility, support a highly motivated team, and work at a fast pace.

• Proficiency in a range of analytical processes or procedures to carry out assigned tasks.
• Technical problem-solving skills and history of driving problems to resolution.
• Flexible, adaptable and service-minded.
• Good English communication skills, verbal and written.
