Data Science - Immersion Program - QuantumBlack, AI by McKinsey

About the Role

Driving lasting impact and building long-term capabilities with our clients as part of QuantumBlack, AI by McKinsey. The Immersion Program is an 8–10 week onsite placement where you will join client engagements and may contribute to product or R&D projects, working in interdisciplinary teams of Data Scientists, Data Engineers, Machine Learning Engineers, Designers, Software Engineers and McKinsey experts.

Responsibilities

• Join client engagements across private, public, and social sectors and play an active role in all aspects of the engagement
• Identify business hypotheses and metrics and help define analytical scope and modelling approaches
• Use math, statistics and machine learning to derive insights from large datasets
• Write highly optimized code and develop complex data science algorithms
• Develop data science products for clients and internal teams
• Apply machine learning methods, including Generative AI techniques (prompt engineering, RAG optimization) when relevant
• Participate in team stand-ups, client meetings and problem-solving sessions

Qualifications

• University students in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or equivalent with expected graduation in 2026 or 2027
• Experience applying machine learning and data mining techniques to large datasets; internships or professional experience is a plus
• Programming focused on machine learning: Python (must), SQL; PySpark is valued
• Exposure to statistical analysis and modelling algorithms and applying them to new domains is beneficial
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to develop creative and efficient solutions
• Good presentation and communication skills; ability to explain complex analytical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Strong command of English (verbal and written) and willingness to travel
