National Customs Manager

About the Role

Lead national customs strategy and be the driving force behind compliant, fast, and efficient trade. As a Customs Specialist at Kuehne+Nagel, you will optimise logistics to keep global supply chains running smoothly and support commercial growth of customs standalone services.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a business development plan to boost revenues in customs standalone and identify new business opportunities in collaboration with sales teams and own initiatives
• Define target accounts and establish strategies to secure them; serve as first point of contact for the Sales organisation (Key Account and Field Sales) on customs brokerage opportunities
• Analyse the domestic customs brokerage market, map relevant verticals, customers and industry trends, and translate market trends into new customs approaches
• Draft a domestic roadmap for customs standalone aligned to group strategic value proposition and growth aspirations
• Lead technical and commercial product development for customs standalone, develop go-to-market approaches and value propositions, and support country customs teams to establish standalone products and teams
• Increase digital connectivity with customers, suppliers, internal partners and customs authorities via digital interfaces, bots and automated uploads
• Establish and manage strong client relationships with financial decision-makers; conduct client visits to understand cross-border trade requirements

Qualifications

• At least 10 years of solid experience in customs brokerage within the logistics industry, with deep familiarity with end‑to‑end import/export processes and regulatory requirements
• Proven leadership experience, having led and developed teams for a minimum of 3 years
• Well‑versed in customs procedures across air, sea and land transport; advantage for candidates with hands‑on experience designing or managing customs-related logistics solutions
• Understands P&L and key financial drivers; able to interpret numbers and make decisions that balance operational needs with cost efficiency
• Communicates confidently and effectively, with fluent English
