About the Role

The General Accountant will be responsible for accounts payable, producing high-quality management accounts, supporting the month-end process, and delivering analysis that drives business performance. Reporting into the Finance Manager, this role will support budgeting, forecasting, and process improvements while ensuring compliance with financial policies and controls. The role sits within the footwear division which operates sourcing entities in Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia and distributes worldwide through HK/UK licensee.

Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day accounts payable process for OPEX in HK and UK
• Produce monthly management accounts for the division, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and compliance with internal policies
• Support the month-end close process, including accruals, prepayments, reconciliations and variance analysis
• Prepare and analyze P&L and balance sheet performance and provide meaningful commentary
• Assist in the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting cycles, working closely with the Finance Manager
• Monitor costs and highlight opportunities for improvement
• Ensure compliance with local statutory, tax and audit requirements and support external auditors where required
• Maintain and improve financial controls, processes and reporting systems
• Prepare ad hoc analysis and reports for senior stakeholders

Qualifications

• Part-qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent)
• Experience in management accounting, ideally in retail, consumer goods or footwear/apparel sectors
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills; experience with ERP systems desirable
• Experience in a multi-currency, multi-entity business including consolidations
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail
• Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders
• Proactive, organised and comfortable managing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
