POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining manufacturing tooling and fixtures for production lines in the TH facility, ensuring tooling reliability, production efficiency, and product quality. Provides regional technical support for tooling operations and collaborates with cross-functional teams to optimize tooling solutions and drive continuous improvement in manufacturing processes.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design and engineer custom tooling, jigs, and fixtures for manufacturing processes (e.g., assembly, machining, inspection) using CAD software, ensuring compliance with production requirements and safety standards.
• Collaborate with external vendors and internal production teams to source, fabricate, and validate tooling prototypes, conducting design reviews and feasibility analyses.
• Troubleshoot tooling-related issues (e.g., wear, misalignment, performance inefficiencies) on production lines, implementing corrective actions and preventive maintenance plans.
• Optimize existing tooling designs to reduce production costs, improve cycle times, and enhance product quality, leveraging lean manufacturing principles.
• Manage tooling inventory and maintenance schedules, tracking tooling performance metrics (e.g., uptime, repair frequency) and documenting tooling specifications and SOPs.
• Participate in new product introduction (NPI) projects, leading tooling design and validation activities to support smooth production ramp-up.
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations and company safety policies in all tooling design, fabrication, and usage activities.
• Travel to Malaysia, China, and Philippines to support regional tooling rollouts, provide on-site technical training for local teams, and align tooling standards across facilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. A master’s degree in Manufacturing Systems is a plus.
• Minimum 3 years of tooling engineering experience in a manufacturing environment (automotive, electronics, or consumer goods manufacturing preferred).
• Hands-on experience with tooling fabrication, vendor management, and on-site tooling installation/validation.
• Prior experience in cross-regional manufacturing support or international travel for technical assignments is a plus.
• Experience with lean manufacturing or tooling cost optimization projects is desirable.
• Expertise in tooling design principles and manufacturing processes, including knowledge of materials (e.g., steel, aluminum), machining techniques, and fixture design for assembly/machining operations.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA) and CAM tools for tooling fabrication; experience with finite element analysis (FEA) is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving skills with experience in root cause analysis (RCA) for tooling failures and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Kaizen, Six Sigma).
• Familiarity with manufacturing quality standards (e.g., ISO 9001) and tooling safety regulations.
• Ability to create detailed technical documentation (e.g., tooling drawings, maintenance manuals) and train production personnel on tooling operation and care.
