Lead Data Engineer

About the Role

We are partnering with a global technology organization that is investing heavily in the future of data, cloud, automation, and AI-driven platforms across the APAC region. As part of a major growth initiative, we are seeking a Lead Data Engineer to design and scale a next-generation enterprise data platform that supports mission-critical applications used by organizations around the world.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and high-performance data platforms.
• Architect and build modern data pipelines supporting both batch and real-time processing.
• Drive platform modernization initiatives using cloud and infrastructure-as-code technologies.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders across global teams.
• Champion automation, CI/CD, platform reliability, and engineering excellence.
• Mentor engineers and help develop technical capability across the team.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and identify opportunities to improve platform performance and scalability.
• Lead troubleshooting, incident management, and root cause analysis for complex platform issues.

Technical Skills

• Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP); Kubernetes & Docker
• Kafka, event streaming and CDC technologies
• ETL / ELT data pipelines; SQL Server, PostgreSQL and enterprise data platforms
• Python, Java and .NET; CI/CD and DevOps tooling
• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation); AI, LLM and data platform innovation

Qualifications

• Strong experience designing and building enterprise-scale data platforms.
• Expertise in data engineering, cloud technologies, automation, and platform architecture.
• Experience with modern data pipelines, event-driven architectures, and distributed systems.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills; previous experience mentoring engineers or leading technical teams.
• Ability to work effectively within international and geographically distributed teams.
• Passion for innovation, continuous improvement, and leveraging emerging technologies.
