Back End Staff Software Engineer (Bangkok based, Relocation provided)

About the Role

The Back-End Engineering team builds scalable, fault-tolerant systems and APIs hosting core business logic across inventory, pricing, product data, bookings, payments and more. The Platform team works on mission-critical systems serving millions of users daily, employing modern languages and data technologies and strong CI/CD and testing practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain performance-critical back-end applications and APIs that serve large-scale traffic.
• Contribute to system design and architectural decisions, setting standards and direction for the team.
• Implement and improve CI/CD pipelines and robust testing strategies to ensure seamless integration and high code quality.
• Build resilient, self-healing systems that respond gracefully to extreme loads and unexpected inputs.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience developing production, performance-critical applications using Scala, Java, Kotlin, C#, Go or similar modern languages.
• Strong RDBMS knowledge (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL or equivalent).
• Proven ability to direct large company-wide projects and set technical vision.
• Deep involvement in architectural decision-making and defining team standards.
• Experience implementing advanced CI/CD pipelines and comprehensive testing strategies.
• Good command of English.
• Passion for software development and continuous improvement.

Skills / Required Skills

• Experience with NoSQL and queueing systems is a plus; familiarity with Kafka, Spark, MLflow, Kubeflow and similar data technologies is beneficial.
• Knowledge of Play framework is a plus.
