Project Engineer

About the Role

The Project Engineer will be responsible for the management of cooling tower delivery and installation projects, and to coach and support our distributors to do the same, especially for key customers in data centers and electronics.

Responsibilities

• Initiation – Work closely with the sales and applications team to ensure a clear conception of project deliverables, milestones, and budget prior to accepting the PO.
• Planning – Create project schedule and budget in close cooperation with stakeholders including engineering, factory, distributors, subcontractors and customer.
• Monitoring and control – Follow up and document progress regularly, set up transparent status updates and a communication plan, and implement an escalation plan to respond to risks or changes.
• Closure – Ensure all deliverables are achieved, punch items on site are cleared and all invoices have been paid.
• Site support – Supervise installation and commissioning activities on site.
• Warranty support – Assess issues, coordinate rectification plans with the factory team and supervise corrective actions on site.
• Aftermarket – Visit existing installations, write visit reports with assessment of current state, and make recommendations for maintenance, refurbishment or replacement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• 5 years of experience with cooling towers or rotating equipment sales.
• 5 years of experience in construction project management.
• Good English; other languages are a plus.
• High sense of responsibility, discipline, and ability to work under pressure.
• Creative and analytical problem solver, focused on results and getting the job done properly.
• Customer centricity: good interpersonal skills and clear communication; adept at detecting and addressing ambiguities upfront.
• Team-player: ability to interface well with people from engineering, manufacturing, construction, purchasing, QA/QC, etc.
• Willingness to travel from time to time (+/-50%).
• Ethical behavior and compliance with FCPA.

• Performance indicators: project cost and schedule variance (%), customer feedback regarding quality of communication and execution, and aftermarket sales revenue.
