About the Role

This role operates, monitors and maintains critical data centre facility systems including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, fire life safety and building control systems to ensure reliable operations and efficiency. The role supports maintenance schedules, analyses system performance, assists with upgrades, manages cooling and power distribution, and collaborates with contractors and internal teams.

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, maintain and respond to abnormal conditions across electrical, mechanical, plumbing, fire life safety and building monitoring/control systems.
• Maintain mechanical systems including chilled water systems, HVAC (rooftop, split, DX, CRAC/CRAH), humidification and Kyoto Cooling if present.
• Maintain electrical systems from utility/generator switchgear through UPS, STS/ATS, PDUs and perform load bank operations.
• Maintain plumbing systems including supply piping, fixtures, backflow preventers, water heaters, boilers and drain systems.
• Operate and support electrical and mechanical control systems (PLCs and integrated monitoring/control platforms).
• Maintain wet and pre-action sprinkler systems and associated fire detection and control systems; work with contractors/consultants on expansions, corrections and upgrades.
• Support tracking, documentation and completion of preventive and predictive maintenance schedules.
• Analyse operating conditions, perform data trending/tracking and recommend approaches to improve efficiency and reduce cost.
• Manage data floor and back-of-house mechanical/electrical loading to optimise power and cooling usage; install hot/cold aisle isolation barriers and maintain client cages.
• Order, track and restock facility consumables and parts, and ensure reliable attendance and availability for on-call and emergency response including outside normal business hours.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated technical ability applicable to data centre operations and cross‑functional integrated systems; ability to rapidly learn PC‑based integrated critical monitoring and control systems.
• Entry-level knowledge of electrical and mechanical data centre systems, including electrical distribution, transformers, PLCs, generators, switchgear, UPS, STS/ATS, PDUs, chilled water systems, CRAC/CRAH and pre-action sprinkler systems.
• Entry-level knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, NFPA 72, NFPA 25 and relevant building/fire life safety codes and compliance issues.
• Entry-level knowledge of industrial safety best practices (lockout/tagout, arc flash protection, OSHA or equivalent regulations) and ability to respond to emergency situations.
• Proficient with computers and Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and ability to perform data trending/analysis.
• Ability to work in a team, in a high‑stress fast‑paced environment with shifting priorities; ability to work outside normal business hours, weekends, late nights, holidays and provide on‑call support.
• Relevant high school diploma or equivalent required; relevant advanced qualification or equivalent work‑related experience required.
• CPR/First Aid and NFPA 70E certified (can be gained during employment) and possession of or ability to obtain an OSHA‑approved forklift certification.
