Educational Technology/Technician Audio Visual

About the Role

Educational Technology/Technician Audio Visual is a dual-purpose role designed to bridge the gap between technical infrastructure and pedagogical innovation. You will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of audio-visual services across the College’s performing arts venues and learning spaces, while actively collaborating with the wider learning community—students, staff, and leadership—to facilitate the seamless integration of educational technology and design thinking.

Responsibilities

• Educational Technology: contribute to the development and implementation of a shared vision for integrating technology to promote excellence and transformational change; coach teachers and students in using classroom technology aligned to ISTE standards; model, support and promote digital citizenship and E-Safety; participate in the Dulwich College International group-wide Ed Tech and Innovation Team; oversee educational technology resources and work with IT to ensure they meet day-to-day learning needs; contribute to CCA and technology-related events.
• Audio Visual: control, set up and maintain all AV technical equipment and apparatus in the theatre and black box, including preventative servicing, consumables and inventory management; set up audio and video systems for performances; support inventory management of AV and lighting to meet health and safety requirements; liaise and deliver technical services for external hirers and act as crew chief for casual recruitment, training and operational supervision; assist and train staff on AV equipment use.
• Customer Service: liaise with students, parents and staff to provide consistent, efficient technical services in a courteous manner; provide clear information on AV matters; work in partnership with academic and business staff to support AV requirements; encourage customer feedback and provide solutions for events and productions.
• Technical Service: investigate and resolve hardware and software issues on AV equipment via remote or on-site support; perform minor hardware repairs and software upgrades; participate in preventative maintenance programs and special projects; investigate issues including connectivity, speakers and projectors; log and track jobs using the college AV job tracking/helpdesk system; set up AV for assemblies and support teaching rooms across campus; use live stream technologies such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom.
• Administration & Communication: document hardware issues and maintain records via the AV Department online service desk; maintain Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) requirements; organise external repairs as required; collaborate on schematics and create training materials; provide regular feedback to clients and colleagues and maintain detailed online documentation; participate in departmental and Technology Services meetings.
• Service Delivery: provide a high level of service to all customers with a friendly, helpful and professional demeanour; take ownership of AV problems through to resolution and use appropriate escalation channels when necessary.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Audio Visual Technology, Media Production, IT, or a related field.
• Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in AV support, preferably in a school, theatre, or live event environment.
• Strong knowledge of audio, video, and lighting systems, including setup and troubleshooting.
• Experience with AV control systems, projectors, sound systems, and live streaming platforms.
