About the Role

Software Development Engineering (High Tech) focuses on developing multiple types/categories of software including end-user applications and operating systems/utility software that provide a platform for running end user applications. A Specialist Professional (P4) is a recognized subject matter expert in the job area, typically obtained through advanced education and work experience.

Responsibilities

• Conduct requirements gathering and analysis to understand the software domain, interfaces between hardware and software, and overall software characteristics.
• Use programming, scripting, and/or database languages to write software code.
• Support software testing, deployment, maintenance, and evolution by correcting programming errors, responding to scope changes, and coding software enhancements.
• Apply software development best practices, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
• Coach, review and delegate work to lower-level professionals.
• Manage large projects or processes with limited oversight from manager.

Qualifications

• Recognized subject matter expert level (Specialist Professional P4), typically through advanced education and work experience.
• Experience managing large projects or processes with limited oversight.
• Experience coaching, reviewing and delegating work to junior staff.
