Forward Deployed AI Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and deploy scalable AI solutions across the full analytics value chain: problem framing, algorithm design, implementation, deployment, and client enablement.
• Develop robust, maintainable software applying software development practices and standards and participate in all parts of the software development life cycle.
• Optimize and enhance computational efficiency of algorithms and software designs, including parallel computing considerations.
• Partner with clients and cross-functional teams (including non-technical consultants) to shape features and product roadmaps and to advise on software development best practices.
• Collaborate with global and remote agile squads, share software design and solution ideas, and contribute to team knowledge.
• Develop and deliver thought leadership in scientific communities, publish papers, and represent BCG X at conferences.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 3–8 years of experience in a software development environment; previous consulting experience and/or strong leadership roles preferred.
• Proficiency with analytic software programming, ideally Python, C++, or Scala.
• Experience working with relational, non-relational, and streaming data structures.
• Understanding of parallel computing and experience optimizing computational performance.
• Experience with Large Language Models (LLMs) and cloud infrastructure such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Nice to have: building generative AI tools; full-stack development (GraphQL, React, JavaScript, TypeScript); DevOps (Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, Terraform); data technologies (SQL, Spark, Hadoop); data science libraries (Pandas, Scikit-learn).
