Head of Software Engineer

About the Role

Head of Software Engineer at Data Wow. Hybrid, full-time.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive overall engineering strategy, architecture, and technical roadmap.
• Establish best practices in system design, coding standards, testing, and deployment.
• Ensure scalability, performance, and reliability of all systems and evaluate/adopt new technologies.
• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of engineers across multiple squads; set goals, KPIs, and performance expectations.
• Conduct performance reviews, provide continuous feedback, and coach team members in technical and soft skills.
• Lead hiring process including interviewing and evaluating candidates.
• Oversee system architecture including frontend, backend, and infrastructure; review and guide implementation of complex features.
• Ensure code quality through code reviews, testing strategies, and best practices; troubleshoot and resolve production incidents.
• Work closely with Project Managers, Designers, and QA to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions and drive alignment between engineering and business goals.
• Oversee project timelines, improve development processes, and monitor the development lifecycle (CI/CD, testing, release process).

Qualifications

• 8+ years in software engineering with 3+ years in leadership roles.
• Strong hands-on experience in ReactJS and Next.js; backend experience with NestJS, Ruby, or similar technologies.
• Solid understanding of system design, microservices, scalability, and performance optimization.
• Experience with databases (PostgreSQL, NoSQL) and caching mechanisms.
• Familiar with testing practices (Unit, Integration, E2E) and modern development workflows.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and DevOps tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Strong knowledge of Git and proven ability to lead teams, deliver projects, and drive engineering excellence.
