PCBA Process Engineer

About the Role

Act as the on-site representative at the contract manufacturer (CM), overseeing processes for Test, PCB Assembly and Box build, supporting NPI and mass production activities, and ensuring product reliability, quality and successful ramp to production.

Responsibilities

• Act as the on-site representative at the contract manufacturer (CM), overseeing processes for Test, PCB Assembly and Box build.
• Monitor and enforce manufacturing standards, including ESD controls, line setup, line audits and process adherence; identify and escalate risks proactively.
• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) and mass production by assisting in product bring-up, troubleshooting issues, and coordinating with cross-functional engineering teams across global locations.
• Lead, advise and drive root cause analysis and corrective actions (5D/8D reports) and support continuous improvement efforts at the CM site.
• Collaborate closely with program manager, test engineering, supplier quality, and manufacturing teams to ensure product reliability, quality and successful ramp to production.
• Provide weekly/monthly oversight, report issues back to the design team before reaching crisis, including yield monitoring, identifying production excursions, and suggesting proactive fixes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and above in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related technical field.
• 5–10 years of hands-on experience in testing, PCB Assembly and box build (mechanical assembly) process, preferably in high-tech manufacturing or optoelectronic components.
• Experience with electrical debug, test software best practices, and understanding of box build and final product function.
• Understanding of PCB Assembly process and fundamental knowledge of mechanical parts, assembly processes and tolerancing.
• Strong knowledge of quality control tools and methodologies (SPC, 5D/8D, FMEA, root cause analysis).
• Experience working closely with contract manufacturers (CMs), including on-site support and line audits.
• Solid understanding of manufacturing process controls, material handling, ESD standards, and product assembly flows.
• Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and communicate effectively with remote engineering teams; excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Comfortable working in an intense, fast-paced environment with multiple projects and shifting priorities.
