Electrical Engineer, Datacenter Operations

About the Role

The Data Center team designs and operates electrical, mechanical and HVAC systems for Google data centers. Facilities Technicians operate, monitor and support physical facilities conditions, including heating and cooling, power supply, generators, UPS systems, electrical distribution, and control and monitoring systems. You will inspect, maintain and repair various data center systems and help reduce operational costs while improving efficiency and safety.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, and repair various data center systems.
• Provide daily assistance to technicians, read blueprints/schematics/sequence of operations, conduct tours of systems, and assess their working order.
• Manage the uptime and maintenance of UPS, generators, electrical distribution, and control and monitoring systems.
• Operate, monitor, maintain, and respond to abnormal conditions in the data center facilities systems and equipment.
• Support startup, commissioning, and integration of new electrical equipment and systems into facilities infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications: Associate's degree, trade school certification, or other certified training in a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of electrical experience (electrical testing equipment or electrical distribution) in an industrial or commercial environment.
• Ability to participate in material handling tasks such as lifting, carrying or moving up to 50 lbs (23 kg) of equipment and use safety equipment such as limited weight bearing work platforms, ladders, step stools and personal protective equipment (PPE) like safety harnesses in accordance with safety and ergonomic guidelines and assessments.
• Ability to work non-standard hours and work rotations/shifts.
• Preferred qualifications: Experience in maintenance of electrical distribution systems or construction/technical environments; experience in data centers, hospitals, or power plants; knowledge of data center electrical systems (Feeders, Transformers, Generators, Switchgear, UPS, ATS/STS, PDU/PMM); knowledge of meters, devices, sensors, and troubleshooting using standard hand tools, digital metering, or calibration/diagnostic equipment; ability to communicate with contractors performing maintenance or upgrades.

Additional Information

Work arrangement: onsite. Google will be prioritizing applicants who have valid working rights in Thailand and do not require Google's sponsorship of a visa. This role is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.
