Project Design Manager, MEP (Buildings/Data Center)

Responsibilities

• Take responsibility for delivery of projects from initial design through construction and final review.
• Act as the point of contact for the client team on day-to-day project matters.
• Lead large project design teams and oversee/coordinate multi-disciplinary engineers, designers and drafters (mechanical, electrical, civil, structural, security, architectural, ICT).
• Collaborate with other design disciplines locally and regionally to ensure integrity of the overall design.
• Lead production of design documentation including detailed design drawings, specifications, design reports, calculations, BIM models and other technical documents.
• Chair internal and external design meetings.
• Manage project components including budgets, schedules, quality assurance and client feedback; communicate changes/modifications effectively.
• Assist in workload management, resource forecasting and preparation of proposal documentation.
• Review and ensure compliance of drawings, reports, specifications, survey and access, and prepare appraisals.
• Build and maintain effective client relationships and identify/develop potential business opportunities.
• Apply construction/engineering project management principles to plan and deliver infrastructure projects of varying complexity.
• Manage work programmes to meet client expectations, timeframes and specifications, engaging multiple stakeholders and managing competing priorities.
• Support multiple concurrent projects across the full life cycle including planning, design verification, tendering, contract administration, financial management, scheduling and risk management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• At least 10 years’ relevant experience in Buildings Mechanical or Electrical design, installation, testing & commissioning, and leading delivery of multi-disciplinary projects in modern commercial and industrial buildings; Data Centre experience preferred.
• Strong project management skills with ability to lead a large project team on technical delivery.
• Excellent presentation, verbal and written communication skills.
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of relevant engineering codes, standards and practices.
• Organised approach with ability to accept increased responsibility and produce accurate, detailed work.
• High level of computer literacy; exposure to BIM / Revit highly desired.
• Familiarity with digital tools such as Autodesk Construction Cloud, Autodesk Naviswork and BIM360 and ability to drive BIM processes.
• Strong ability to navigate 3D BIM models to review multi-disciplinary design, identify issues, provide solutions and delegate work to the design team.
