About the Role
Engineer, Operational Safety is responsible for carrying out operational safety related work. The job holder provides advice and technical supports to overall PTTEP operational sites in compliance with company’s SSHE policies, standards & procedures. He/she participates in conducting independent investigations, analyzing underlying causes of accidents/near misses to recommend remedial actions and promotes safety awareness and implementation within all PTTEP operational sites. He/She should be able to perform audit/inspection of contractor and vendor at their operational sites.
Responsibilities
- Provide operational Occupational Health & Safety related advice and technical supports to site personnel involved in all operations and SSHE technical support to all departments.
- Assist/facilitate independent investigations into accidents/near misses or work-related diseases; analyze underlying cause and consequence using methods such as Cause Tree Analysis (CTA), Tripod Beta and recommend and monitor follow-up remedial actions.
- Lead SSHE contractor audits at PTTEP premises or contractor yards worldwide.
- Conduct SSHE inspections and audits, follow up on findings and recommendations until closure, and conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with PTTEP standards and regulatory requirements.
- Analyse audit findings and propose corrective and preventive actions.
- Demonstrate safety leadership and promote safety awareness among PTTEP employees; maintain and update a log of accidents, near misses, and unsafe acts and conditions; track and analyse SSHE performance and prepare weekly, monthly, and annual SSHE performance/SSHE Plan for submission to CSH.
- Create new safety initiatives and develop/revise safety standards, procedures, and guidelines under PTTEP SSHE MS.
- Facilitate implementation of Behavioural Based Safety (BBS), Human and Organisational Program (HOP), and Learning From Normal Work (LFNW).
- Participate/facilitate risk assessment sessions and demonstrate risk mitigation using ALARP concept.
- Interpret and apply relevant SSHE legislation in the workplace.
- Conduct SSHE training courses and deliver quality safety training; maintain and develop technical network and relationships with professional disciplines and external parties; work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to achieve shared objectives and resolve issues.
Qualifications
- Bachelor/Master’s Degree in Engineering or Occupational Health and Safety Science.
- Minimum of five years' experience in the oil and gas industry and minimum five years' experience in safety-related field.
- Good knowledge of safety operations/engineering and familiarity with relevant SSHE legislation.
- Experience with investigations and methodologies (e.g., CTA, Tripod Beta), SSHE audits/inspections, risk assessment and ALARP implementation, and contractor audits.
- Good interpersonal and analytical skills; good command of spoken and written English.
- Professional Safety Officer certificate is an advantage.
- Strong presentation and communication skills, strong problem-solving and analytic thinking skills plus a learning mindset.
