Staff/ Senior Electrical Design Engineer

About the Role

The Senior Staff Engineer, Electrical Design develops new electrical systems/circuits for various applications. Research system ideas and draw up plans, capture them in schematics and system specifications, validate and qualify systems, and provide support throughout manufacturing. Works in cross-functional teams with other designers, customers, manufacturing engineering and project leadership to ensure robust and high quality product development.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and implement technical solutions for complex projects and participate in project planning and scheduling.
• Act as a global SME providing technical leadership and direction to a global team of engineers and lead deployment of strategic technologies/programs.
• Take responsibility for non-technical project elements (people, financials) and may manage relationships with key vendors/partners and act as primary customer contact.
• Create schematics, bills of material, diagrams and drawings; analyze trade-offs in complex systems and recommend solutions and deployment strategies.
• Test, simulate, validate and qualify systems, make adjustments as needed, and support manufacturing, reliability and test activities.
• Liaise with suppliers, customers, contractors and internal teams; analyse and interpret data and create reports and documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Educational requirements may vary by geography.
• Typical experience: 11 to 14 years. May be a recognised expert (go-to person) in one or more technical areas.
• Keep up to date with relevant industry knowledge and regulations.

Skills

• Experience with schematics, bills of material, circuit and system design, and testing/validation.
• Experience supporting manufacturing, reliability and cross-functional design reviews.
• Technical leadership, project planning and coordination.

Additional Information

• Duties performed in a normal office environment; may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration.
• Repetitive manual movements (data entry, using a mouse or calculator) are frequently required.
• Occasional travel may be required.
