Responsibilities

• Coordinate activities of creations and application lab, including preparation of samples for internal and external customers and definition of priorities.
• Manage the workload of the team and coordinate overtime if needed.
• Act as point of contact in the lab for daily lab deliverables and for quality assurance; ensure high service levels and stakeholder satisfaction.
• Analyse root causes of defects and implement actions to eliminate and avoid repeat defects.
• Replenish lab consumables and inventories to ensure no downtime; maintain proper stock records and timely disposal of expired materials.
• Drive continuous improvement of work processes for better quality and efficiency.
• Contribute to defining application protocols and procedures with other teams; safely operate, maintain and organize lab equipment and ensure the lab follows good lab practices.
• Supervise a small team of Technicians: plan, organize and optimize their work; provide training and mentoring; keep the team motivated and report concerns to the Lab Manager.

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Chemistry or related fields.
• 4-5 years of experience in a lab environment and proven track record of managing a small lab team for at least 2 years.
• Experience in the fragrance industry preferred but not required.
• Good sense of smell; no colour blindness; no allergy to scent and soap/surfactant based products.

Skills

• Ability to multitask and work under tight deadlines; technical knowledge and good problem solving ability.
• People management skills and high emotional quotient; works well in a multi-cultural environment.
• Good written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills; fluent in spoken and written English and/or Chinese.
• Good safety awareness in a chemistry lab and positive working attitude.

Additional Information

• Location: Bangkok, Thailand. Reports to Head, Applications & Creation Labs (SEA). Onsite, full-time.
