Department Manager - Software QA

About the Role

Department Manager - Quality Assurance establishes suitable quality standards at each stage of the development process and evaluates suitability of matrices to assess quality. He/She determines types and variations of quality tests to fulfil business needs and requirements, ensures that testing processes comply with applicable regulatory and relevant quality testing requirements, synthesizes product performance against user feedback to prioritize quality measures for testing, manages the conduct of quality tests under different operational and usage conditions, recommends new technologies, tools and infrastructures, practices and process changes, and guides the automation of quality testing.

Responsibilities

• Determine quality standards at each stage of the development process to ensure quality of outputs
• Synthesize user requirements and expectations to determine suitable quality standards for end products
• Evaluate suitability of quality matrices and oversee development of user guides on quality standards
• Determine types and variations of quality tests for each phase of the product development lifecycle to fulfil business needs and requirements
• Assess objectives of quality tests for feasibility and relevancy and review test steps against objectives
• Ensure quality testing processes comply with regulatory and other relevant requirements
• Manage the conduct of quality tests across phases on quality measures under different operational and usage conditions
• Provide technical inputs on quality gaps to the development team and develop quality systems to mitigate or enable early detection of failure
• Validate operating and usage conditions where performance of quality measures drops and develop reports documenting testing outcomes
• Recommend new technologies, tools, infrastructures and practices; guide development of tools to automate quality testing; evaluate automated test cases and code for enhancements
• Ensure conduct of applicable security tests with relevant functional teams and manage resolution of quality issues in an Agile environment

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or other IT/Quality Assurance/Software/Systems Testing related fields
• At least 7–10 years’ experience in related field
• Knowledge of Robot Framework (using Python language)
• Knowledge in software version control systems and code review workflows
• Experience working in Agile Scrum projects and familiarity with rapid product development techniques (Design sprints, Story mapping, etc.)
• Experience in developing automation testing scripts; mobile testing experience preferred
• Fluent English communication skills
