Supplier Quality Development Engineer

About the Role

To be responsible of the process quality output of the external direct materials and services suppliers assigned. To provide qualification of new potential suppliers, applies APQP methodology to supplier's new product/process development and ensures the performance monitoring and improvement. To drive the growth and continuous improvement of suppliers belonging to the assigned commodities. To support the plants for the resolution of quality issues and the implementation of action plans.

Responsibilities

• Support the Purchasing GCF in scouting and pre-selecting suppliers and perform supplier qualification, contributing to purchasing and global sourcing strategies.
• Ensure, through APQP methodology, that development of new products and processes is properly implemented at supplier premises.
• Perform supplier process audits according to Automotive standards and methodologies, verify compliance of supplier quality management systems and monitor defined action plans.
• Ensure performance analysis of assigned suppliers, define and manage improvement and growth plans by applying best practices and continuous improvement, including gap analysis between suppliers in the same product family/commodity.
• Support Plant Quality in claim management and escalate when critical issues emerge; support suppliers to develop their quality systems to meet required levels.
• Monitor supplier quality indicators and publish dashboards at global level; report overall supplier quality status regularly or when requested by Central Function.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
• At least 8–12 years' experience in supplier quality engineering or similar roles in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the Automotive industry.
• Automotive tier‑1 experience in a matrix environment and knowledge of IATF16949/IATF standards are desirable.
• Consolidated knowledge and application of Quality Tools (8D, Ishikawa, problem solving, Control Plan, FMEA, SPC) and international standard IATF16949.
• Good knowledge of process technologies desirable: pressure die casting, gravity die casting, plastics, rubber, stamping, machining and forging.
• Available for frequent travelling to support supplier quality tasks in assigned geographical areas.
• Good command of spoken and written English; analytical mindset and systematic approach to problem solving.
• Strong teamworking skills, effective communication and ability to grow positive professional relationships within the organization and with external parties.

• Geographic locations of assigned suppliers: Thailand and ASEAN (e.g. Taiwan, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia etc.).
• Work arrangement: hybrid. Location: Eastern Seaboard Industrial Estate (Rayong).
