Principal Engineer Automation

About the Role

As a Principal Engineer Automation, you will act as technical expert for End-to-End automation solutions of Industry 4.0/smart factory for Equipment Automation, Material Handling Automation, Equipment-Process-Automation, Robotic System, WIP Automation, and System integration in semiconductor manufacturing environment. You will lead, drive, and develop first-of-a-kind automation topics from concept study to handover, lead/support automation rollout to bring value to Infineon. You will improve, optimize, and sustain automation solutions to meet committed KPIs, such as harvesting, automation performance (UPH, OEE, MTBF, incident rate). You will be responsible for documentation, procedure definition, testing, and training.

Key Responsibilities

• Work with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, align with key stakeholders, translate requirements to technical requirements & specifications, conduct concept studies with business cases to trigger feasibility studies
• Lead & support feasibility studies and Proof of Concept (POC) with internal & external teams, work out Equipment Purchasing Specifications, balance opportunity & risk, trigger implementation and create value through innovation
• Lead and drive automation partners and internal teams for automation solution hardware and software: function & features, control architecture, interface definition & design with SECS/GEM 200/300 protocol, sequence diagrams with Auto Load/Unload and Load & Go; integration with existing equipment, new equipment automation, Material Handling Automation, AOI, new & existing control layers; design review with site and functional teams
• Responsible for & support automation solution setup, trial runs, testing, buyoff, change management, continual improvement & optimization, documentation, train operations teams, and incident management with internal and external teams
• Support automation maintenance and troubleshooting, and continual improvement
• Study, develop, and demo new technologies/solutions; design standardization and define approach & guidance with Industry 4.0 design team
• Lead and support site automation roadmap and blueprints to influence and adapt site automation strategy
• Lead, guide, and train site automation team for automation study, implementation, and sustainment

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or above in Mechanical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Robotic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field
• Experience in semiconductor or customized automation manufacturing environment
• 5+ years' experience in customized automatic solution development, such as new automatic equipment, and/or new auto load/unload, and/or new Material Handling Systems (auto storage, e-Rack, conveyor, Robot/Cobot end effector) design with 2D/3D design software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor); OR 5+ years' experience with application development, database management (MySQL, MS SQL, Oracle, MongoDB)
• 3+ years team leading experience
• Proven experience in automation solutions like Cobot/Robot, AGV/AMR, Humanoid Robot, auto conveyor, auto storage, auto Load/Unload
• Proven experience in integration with Low Level Controllers (PLC, PC), Cell Control Layer, Machine Control Systems for process equipment, equipment automation, Material Handling Automation, robotic systems
• Experience with SECS/GEM 200/300 communication protocols and other generic protocols
