Therapeutic Area Medical Partner - CKD

About the Role

Therapeutic Area Medical Partner is a field-based position responsible for developing and enhancing professional relationships with healthcare professionals, driving scientific partnership initiatives with healthcare societies, working with the Medical Therapeutic Area Lead to develop national strategies for healthcare thought leaders, and coordinating medical activities with internal and external stakeholders to advance clinical practice and improve patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Identify and engage top-tier key customers with scientific expertise and business knowledge of AstraZeneca marketed products and compounds in development.
• Develop peer-level relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), Key Decision Makers (KDMs), and researchers consistent with Scientific and Medical Affairs strategy and objectives.
• Identify pre-clinical, clinical and post-marketing study investigators in alignment with the goals of Clinical Development activities and Therapeutic Brand Teams initiatives.
• Provide actionable information that enhances the value and appropriate use of AstraZeneca products to internal stakeholders and delivers clinical and scientific information that clinically differentiates AstraZeneca products.
• Respond to customer inquiries to ensure focused and balanced clinical and scientific information that supports the appropriate use of AstraZeneca’s products and services.
• Sustain expertise in disease state management, emerging therapies, and the competitive landscape.
• Serve as a member of the assigned Therapeutic Area Core Team and Extended Leadership Team and lead initiatives that impact national strategies for specific therapeutic areas and cross-therapeutic areas.
• Work with cross-functional leaders to coordinate medical activities, optimize use of resources, and integrate scientific and medical knowledge from KOLs, brand teams and literature to identify and forecast trends impacting the business.
• Adhere to internal standard processes and comply with regulatory and compliance requirements.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Pharmacology, Pharmacy, Medicine or equivalent; Doctorate in Pharmacology, Pharmacy, Medicine or equivalent preferred.
• 4–6 years of experience in the Pharmaceutical Industry and at least 2 years as a Medical Science Liaison.
• Thorough knowledge of the regulatory environment and demonstrated expertise in the drug discovery and drug development process.
• Established track record of basic or clinical research.
• Experience in chronic kidney disease (CKD).
