Specialist - Signal Integrity Engineer / Test Engineer (Product Development)

About the Role

As a Product Development Engineer in the Signal Integrity team you will focus on the electrical design, simulation, and verification-validation testing of high speed products in connectors and/or cable assemblies and radio system industry, targeting high speed communications and connectivity within datacenters and wireless infrastructure. You will independently work on signal integrity analysis, modeling, simulation, testing and PCB layout review, and collaborate with mechanical, manufacturing & operations teams. You will act as the subject matter expert for signal integrity performance from initial analysis through prototype fabrication, evaluation and production verification testing.

Responsibilities

• Act as subject matter expert in signal integrity design, simulation and validation throughout product development cycles
• Establish signal integrity design performance and functional requirements for new products
• Perform signal integrity simulations for multiple high-speed standards, selecting appropriate simulation methodology and setup
• Perform PCB schematic and layout reviews and create actionable recommendations based on reviews and simulation results
• Guide connector and component design qualifications from a signal integrity standpoint and make data-driven decisions on product functionality and improvements
• Interpret simulation and lab data to identify issues and provide solutions

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience
• 8+ years relevant experience in electrical design, RF design, or PCB design
• Proficient with signal integrity analysis tools (Agilent ADS, Ansys HFSS, CST or equivalent)
• Solid understanding of electromagnetic theory and electrical circuit behavior
• Familiarity with printed circuit board design, fabrication and assembly
• Fluent in English (verbal and written) to facilitate global communication
• Ability to work across time zones and collaborate with individuals across geographies
• Highly motivated, quick learner, able to work independently

Skills / Required Skills

• Strong analytical capabilities to interpret simulation and lab data
• Experience with test equipment such as oscilloscope, vector network analyzer and BERT
• PCB design review and layout experience

Additional Information

• Nice to have: interconnect design (socket/connector/cable/cable assembly), RF antenna or RF sub-system experience, design experience with high-speed communication systems, presentation skills for technical audiences, Six Sigma or strong data analytics background, Altium/AutoCAD familiarity, project leadership across design/development/manufacturing, signal conditioning and equalization techniques, direct customer design and support experience
