Assistant Factory Manager

About the Role

Assistant Factory Manager leads all activities associated with the manufacturing/production department for the factory. This person is responsible for people and team development, motivating the team and ensuring quality performance, cost efficiency, continuous improvement on processes, service and safety for the entire manufacturing unit across all shifts.

Responsibilities

• Maintain VCON product quality and standards.
• Optimize operational efficiencies to support production, stockyard and shipping of precast concrete products.
• Assist in the maintenance of manufacturing operations documents and prepare daily production reports.
• Review work in-process to ensure accuracy within accepted tolerances.
• Identify and oversee operational improvements to deliver monthly manufacturing plans; identify cost performance gaps, develop action plans and allocate resources.
• Track operational output measures: efficiency, yield loss, product quality and inventory accuracy.
• Develop the team to solve day-to-day operational issues and reach short- and long-term performance goals.
• Communicate and collaborate cross-functionally to resolve manufacturing issues and coordinate production with other departments.
• Ensure compliance with VCON policies, contracts and procedures and maintain a regular presence on the plant floor to administer policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, civil engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in manufacturing of precast concrete preferred.
• Successful completion of a major improvement project.
• Strong skills and experience in manufacturing, finance/accounting awareness, project management, leadership and logical problem solving.
• Ability to read and understand civil/structural drawings.
• Basic understanding of scheduling programs preferred.
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate well verbally and in writing; self-starter.
• Ability to work outside office hours and across shifts.
