About the Role

The Engineering & Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading the plant’s engineering, utilities, and maintenance functions to ensure maximum equipment uptime, compliance with food safety standards, and efficient execution of capital projects. This role drives reliability, continuous improvement, and technical excellence across the facility.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and oversee preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs to ensure maximum equipment reliability and meet production targets.
• Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective action plans for equipment failures and maintain CMMS accuracy (work orders, spare parts, asset history).
• Plan and execute plant engineering initiatives, upgrades, and CAPEX projects; prepare technical specifications, budgets, and timelines, and coordinate contractors, suppliers, and consultants.
• Ensure projects and engineering activities comply with safety, quality, and environmental standards.
• Oversee operation and maintenance of critical utilities: boilers, refrigeration systems, compressed air, HVAC, and water treatment; ensure uninterrupted utility services and optimize energy consumption.
• Collaborate with Quality Assurance on sanitation, allergen control, contamination prevention, and lead maintenance-related audits and documentation.
• Lead, coach, and develop a team of engineers, technicians, and maintenance staff; manage workforce planning, training, performance evaluation, and foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Manage maintenance and engineering budgets, spare parts inventory, identify cost-saving opportunities, and ensure procurement of tools, parts, and services within financial guidelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
• 7+ years of engineering/maintenance experience in food manufacturing or FMCG environment.
• Strong knowledge of GMP, HACCP, food safety standards, and regulatory compliance (ISO 22000, BRC, etc.).
• Experience with CMMS systems and reliability concepts (TPM, RCM, RCA) and proven track record in managing capital projects.
• Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills and ability to work under pressure and respond effectively to operational priorities.
